ORA Good Cat EV Launched in Malaysia


ORA Good Cat EV by Great Wall Motors (GWM) has been officially launched in Malaysia after the electric vehicle was open for booking a couple of weeks ago.

In Malaysia, the ORA Good Cat EV comes with two battery options in two variants – the 400 Pro and the 500 Ultra, priced from RM139,800 (PKR 69.93 lac) for the 400 Pro, and RM169,800 (PKR 84.93 lac) for the 500 Ultra. Both variants feature the same powertrain configuration, which is a single electric motor producing 142 hp and 210 Nm sending power to the front wheels. This enables the Good Cat EV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 152 km/h, according to GWM.

The 400 Pro variant gets the 47.8 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery for a 400 km of drive range (NEDC) and takes 8 hours for a full charge. On the other hand, the 500 Ultra variant gets 63.1 kWh ternary lithium battery that offers up to 500 km of NEDC drive range and take around 10 hours to be fully charged. DC fast charging from a 0-80% can be achieved in around 40 minutes.

In terms of equipment, both variants get 18-inch alloys, tire repair kit, active front grille intake, automatic headlamps, LED tail lamps and rear fog lamp, electrically adjustable side mirrors, automatic wipers and a panoramic sunroof as standard. Inside, there is a multi-function steering wheel, 7-inch multi-information display, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital video recorder, synthetic leather seat upholstery and electrically adjustable front seats.

Safety equipment for the Ora Good Cat includes adaptive cruise control, intelligence cruise assistance, AEB, forward collision warning, low speed emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and lane centering assist. Exclusive to the 500 Ultra variant are the Wisdom Dodge System, emergency lane keeping, lane change assist and blind spot detection, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert and rear cross traffic braking.
